Slow food combats climate-change

Written by Kajsa IngelssonJanuary 28, 2017

Forbes published an article today on 9 steps you personally can take to directly combat climate-change. It’s more important now than ever. For the next four years we are stuck with a US government that wont to do thing.

Climate change is real. It’s already happening, and it’s happening fast. For the sake of our future generations, our planet and all the other living beings that walk amongst us on this precious earth, we must ACT NOW!

Which brings me to today’s post. The first three steps on the above mentioned article are: become vegetarian or vegan, buy organic and choose locally produced. There’s an easy change to make to check all these three of at the same time: go shop at your local market!

The first thing that I do whenever I move to a new place is to check out where the markets at. It’s usually cheaper, you will get fine produce that’s in season, reduce your plastic consumption, you can talk to the farmers to know what they and their produce stand for, you support your local community instead of the big, money hungry cooperations and it’s a great way to meet people!

Here in Merida there’s a lovely market called Slow Food. You will find everything from veggies and fruit to home made honey eyedrops, vegan ceviche and the best kombucha I ever had in my life!

Comment on the post and share you favorite markets from around the world 🙂 Me and the kitty here are dying to know! 🙂
