Tomato Sauce

Written by Kajsa IngelssonNovember 15, 2019

Hi everyone! It’s been a long time, I know. I have been in New York for 2 weeks and had my hands full in that amazing city. But not to worry, I am back and got a lot of stuff to share with you 🙂

First off is my go to tomato sauce. This is a recipe that saved me countless of times and that you can make so many different versions off. Add some cayenne and make it spicy or throw in some fresh herbs for a more italian feel. Adding some sweetener enhances the tomato flavor and if it’s too watery try to add a bit of starch.

Oh, and if you prefer to watch me cooking it in a short video, click here!

Easy Tomato Sauce

30 min, 2 people

  • 1 onion.
  • 1 stalk of celery
  • clove garlic
  • Coconut oil
  • Ground or grated turmeric
  • 4 big and juicy tomatoes or 1 can crushed
  • Salt and pepper
  • Whatever herbs or spices you feel like if you want to add a twist to it 🙂

How to make it all come together:

  • Chop the onion.
  • Heat up a hot with some coconut oil.
  • Peel and mince the garlic.
  • Add the onion. Let it fry for a minute or two.
  • Add the garlic.
  • Let it fry until translucent/soft, about 3 min on high heat.
  • Chop the celery into pieces and add.
  • Chop the tomatoes as fast as you can 😉 and add them
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Let it boil on medium low for about 20-30 min or when you like the consistency. Stir every once and awhile. Add whatever spices or herbs you’d like.
  • Serve with roasted vegetables, pasta or why not cooked spiralized potato noodles?
