HOT 6 with a physiotherapist

Written by Kajsa IngelssonSeptember 25, 2016

Next up in our interview series is Randall Murillo Marin. He is one of the kindest men I know and he was of great help in reducing my pain during my months in Costa Rica. He sent me off to Montreal well on my way to healing.

What is it that you do? Who would benefit from seeing you?

I am a physiotherapist. Physical Therapy (PT) is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty that remediates impairments and promotes mobility, function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical intervention (therapy using mechanical force, thermoelectrics and movements). Therefore any person who is looking for anything from some bodywork to a very serious rehabilitation program can benefit.

There is so much pressure in today’s society to have it all, see all and be all. How do counter the stress that this brings and find balance in your life?

Try to focus on what feels real. If you put your spiritual beliefs (whatever they are), your loved ones and self-realization as priorities, you just can’t go wrong.

What does it mean to you to live a healthy life?

To eat well, exercise more, be kind to others and learning a lot. Try to keep your body fit and your mind even fitter.

What are the top three things you do to contribute to saving this planet?

I think that my biggest contribution is that I try to make my sense of responsibility for the future contagious to other people. Patients and friends usually pay attention to what I say, so whatever the message is I try to keep it positive. I also like to think that my obsession for protecting even the smallest form of life and my compost pile do make a difference 🙂

What are your favorite health habits/routines?

Kaizen. It doesn’t matter what your current state is, you should always focus on getting better, continual improvement is key for a healthier life.

If you run 15 minutes one day, try to run 20 the next one. If you eat healthy today, eat healthier tomorrow. And read, read a lot.

What’s the best advice you have for us on how to live life to the fullest?

Just be kind. You can travel or party 24/7, you can be good at your job, go for a run or do none of these, but if you are kind to others you will be happy for sure.
