My supplement regimen

Written by Kajsa IngelssonMay 28, 2021

First I like to add that the best way to get the nutrients you need is through food and drinks. If you are eating a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, legumes and seeds and nuts, you should get everything your body and mind needs to thrive. However, there are times when our bodies can use a little help. The following supplements are not something that I take daily, but rather when my body is unbalanced and needs a little push in the right direction.

A good way for me to check if I need a particular supplement is that I hold it in my hands and center myself. I stand up straight and close my eyes. I ask my body Do I Need This Right Now? If I tip forward, its a yes. Backwards its a no. Try this tequnique for different questions you have and don’t worry if it doesn’t work right away.

Practice make perfect. Tap into your wisdom!

If you click on the mjau coloured links, it will take you to the brands that I am using. Always choose clean, organic and with as little fillers as possible. When it comes to probiotics, the more strains the better.

Codial Silver

I mentioned this one in my natural pharmacy post. Great both internal and external for any bacterial imbalance. When you feel a sore throat coming along, gurgle with this liquid several times a day to kick it to the curb!

Spirulina

Detox your body with a daily dose of spriulina. This seaweed contains many many vitamins and minerals, making it a great way to boost your all around health! On this note, please include more seaweed in your diet. Its one of the most efficient ways you can show your body some love!

Lemon Balm

I love lemon balm! Its a great way to calm down our nervous system, especially the nervs in the stomach. I use both a tincture and a tea to reap the benefits.

Digestive Enzymes

Its great to have a little help digesting your food every once in a while. I take these if I have been enjoying a big meal or if I feel bloated. However, if you are burping and showing other signs of poor digestion, go see a naturopath. In my experience it can be that you have SIBO and need to start a treatment plan to overcome this.

Probiotic

You all heard about the benefits of probiotics by now I am sure. It basically boosts the good bacteria in your stomach, creating a favourable environment inside of your second brain.

Magnesium

Aching muscles? You might be magnesium deficient. This supplement is great to relax the psysical body as well as a sleep aid. Green and bananas contain a lot of magnesium btw!

Melatonin

Melatonin is the sleep hormone that your body produces as the sun goes down. Be mindful not to rely on this supplement every night as it can disrupt your bodys hormone production. Its greaaaat for jetlag though!

Oregano

Kills all the bad guys, whatever they might be. I used this oil a lot when I was getting myself healthy after SIBO. Great remedy for food posioning. If you feel anything weird in your stomach, take one or two right away.

Chaga

This is a mushroom that grows on trees. Great for anti ageing, anti cancer, anti inflammation and all around health. Drink as a tea or take as a pill or tincture.

Turmeric

Anti inflammatory super hero! This is something that you can take everyday without any issue 🙂

He Shu Won

Anti-ageing super hero. I find a daily low dose being the best.

Iron supplement

For us women in particular since we bleed once a month, but honestly everyone on a plantbased diet can benefit from some added iron. Sesame seeds are a great source, but if you are lacking I recommend adding floradix plant based iron to your routine.

Aloe Vera Juice

Great for skin health and digestion. I take 1 to 2 sips of this incredible plant juice every day!

Celery Juice

Ah, celery juice. After my morning lemon water, this is how I start my mornings. 700 cl of pure celery juice. Great for digestion, to hydrate your body on a cellular level and well as fighting of any viruses and bacteria that are living inside of you.
